Found in the set are the five 2013-dated America the Beautiful Quarters® with each coin struck to proof quality from 90% silver. This differs from the standard circulation quality America the Beautiful Quarters which are struck from a clad composition.

Totaling the silver quarters of the set together equals 0.9042 ounces of the precious metal. This gives the release a silver set melt value approximately equal to 9/10 of an ounce of silver.

The five coins included as part of the 2013 Quarters Silver Proof Set are:

As previously mentioned, each of the five coins above is struck from 90% silver.

The coins are produced at the US Mint's facility in San Francisco. Accordingly, an 'S' mintmark may be found on the obverse of each coin of the set along with a portrait of George Washington, the first President of the United States. This image of Washington was initially used on the 1932 circulating quarter dollar and was designed by John Flanagan. The portrait has remained on quarters, with minor variations, ever since.

Found on the reverse of each coin is the design emblematic of the selected site of national interest. Surrounding the emblematic design are inscriptions indicating which facility is showcased on the strike, which state or territory the facility is located in, 2013 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.

For 2013, the US Mint debuted new packaging for the annual Quarters Silver Proof Set. It is described by the US Mint with:

"The United States Mint will debut new packaging for this product in 2013.  The image on the front of the outer carton is White Mountain National Forest (the first quarter in 2013).  The images on the back of the carton include each national park or site, its name, the state and the year in which the park was established as a national site."

These same five silver quarter dollars are also available as part of the 2013 Silver Proof Set.
