2012 US Mint Silver Proof Set
The 2012 US Mint Silver Proof Set will contain 14-proof quality examples of the circulating coins issued by the United States Mint just like the similar 2012 Proof Set. However, making this 2012 Silver Proof Set different is the fact that seven of the coins included in the set will be struck from 90% silver.
90% silver compositions are referred to at times as "coin silver." This same composition is standard for many silver coin products including the silver dollar commemoratives struck by the US Mint like the 2012 Star-Spangled Banner Silver Dollar and the 2012 Infantry Soldier Silver Dollar.
However, unlike those commemoratives, coins of this set are struck to represent the circulating coins issued by the US Mint during the year. In total, fourteen different circulating coins will be struck during 2012 with all fourteen represented in the set.
Of those fourteen, seven will be struck from the aforementioned 90% silver. Those seven include the five America the Beautiful Quarters®, the Kennedy Half Dollar and the Roosevelt Dime. The remaining strikes in the set will be composed of their standard clad composition

Coins of the set will be presented in three separate lenses. These lenses both protect the coins as well as allow the holder to view both the obverse and reverse of each coin. One lens will contain the four 2012 Presidential Dollar Coins, one lens will contain the five silver 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters and one lens will contain the remaining five coins.
