2012 US Mint Set
The 2012 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set®, otherwise known as the 2012 US Mint Set, contains two examples of each of the circulating coins issued by the United States Mint during the year. The US Mint placed the set on sale May 21, 2012 at a price of $27.95.
Accordingly, each 2012 US Mint Set includes a total of twenty-eight coins. Fourteen of those coins were struck to uncirculated quality at the US Mint's facility in Philadelphia and fourteen were struck to uncirculated quality at the US Mint's facility in Denver. These two locations are typically responsible for striking the circulating coins issued by the Mint.
However, as these are uncirculated coins, the US Mint uses specialized presses to produce each strike. They are also struck with greater force than their circulating counterparts typically resulting in a coin with a greater level of detail.
After striking, coins are then placed in separate blisters in an illustrated folder. These folders allow the holder to view both the obverse and reverse of each coin included in it. One folder included in each set will contain the coins from the Philadelphia Mint while the other folder will contain the coins from the Denver Mint.
Those coins in the 2012 Mint Set include:
