2011 US Mint Set
One of the most popular annual sets released by the United States Mint for the year is the 2011 US Mint Set. Included in the set are two examples of each of the circulating coins issued by the Mint in the year.
The 2011 Mint Set went on sale February 8, 2011, for a price of $31.95. By February 13, collectors had already purchased 191,391 of them.
Known officially as the United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set® by the US Mint, each set should include a total of twenty-eight coins. Fourteen of those coins will be struck at the US Mint's facility in Philadelphia and fourteen will be struck at the US Mint's facility in Denver. Both of these locations are responsible for the striking all the circulating coinage issued by the United States Mint each year.
However, each coin in this set will be struck on special presses utilizing greater force than used on the circulating coins. This gives each strike a level of enhanced detail not seen on a typical coin.
Coins in the set are sealed in a separate blister allowing the holder to view both the obverse and reverse of each strike and included as part of one of two folders. One of the folders will contain all the strikes from the Philadelphia Mint while the other contains all of the strikes of the Denver Mint.
Those coins to be included in the 2011 Mint Set include:
