The 2009 US Mint Presidential Dollars Proof Set is just the third annual issue for the product containing coins honoring American former Presidents.
The set launched on Feb, 10, 2009, for the price of $14.95. It was the first Mint offering in February and the fifth by type for the year.
Each of the presidential dollars has a common reverse of the Statue of Liberty, designed and sculpted by Don Everhart. The obverse, or heads side, of each dollar bears a portrait honoring the specific President. The set includes four proof 2009 Presidential Dollars featuring:

William Henry Harrison - 9th President, with the coin sculpted and designed by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Joseph Menna.

John Tyler - 10th President, with the coin honoring him designed and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Phebe Hemphill.

James K. Polk - 11th President, with the commemorative dollar designed by United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program Master Designer Susan Gamble and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Charles Vickers.

Zachary Taylor - 12th President, with the $1 coin designed and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Don Everhart.
Each coin within the proof set is minted in San Francisco and bears the "S" mint mark, so denoting.

The mintage level for all US Mint proof sets is based on demand. Presidential proof sets are fairly popular. Collectors purchased 860,172 of the 2008 US Mint Presidential Dollars Proof Set, according to US Mint sales figures. Those sets were launched on Jan. 31, 2008 and went off sale nearly twelve months later with the 2009 release.
As a comparison of sorts, as of Sept. 6, 2009, the Mint reported that 597,366 of the 2009 US Mint Presidential Dollars Proof Set had been sold.
